Who are we?

Who is The Southlake Carroll Rodeo Team?

We are a high school sports club consisting of student athletes in Grades 9 through 12, who share a mutual passion for the sport of rodeo. We are funded by sponsorships and membership dues, and enjoy a competitive, but fun environment. There are no try-outs, you don’t need to own a horse to join, and our team has no maximum capacity, so whether you’re brand new to the sport of rodeo or a seasoned rider, we welcome all members!

What events do members compete in?

Barrel racing, pole bending, bronc riding, team roping, steer wrestling, goat tying, ribbon roping, chute dogging and bull riding.

Where do we meet?

The Southlake Carroll Rodeo Team meets regularly throughout the school year, starting in August. Meeting locations around Southlake vary and are determined closer to the meeting date, depending on whether we’re meeting to go through team business, or getting together to socialize, such as our Team Holiday Banquet, Trail Rides or CISD Homecoming Parade to name a few! Parents are welcome to come to all meetings, activities and competitions as well.

Where do we compete?

The majority of NTHSRA rodeo competitions are held on Fridays and/or Saturdays at the North Texas High School Rodeo Association Arena in Saginaw, Fort Worth. With nearly sixty high schools competing against each other at NTHSRA, each weekend is always action-packed and exciting -- for both competitors and spectators -- so please check-out the NTHRSA rodeo schedule and come on out to support the rodeo team today!

When is the Team Kick-Off Meeting?

Our annual team Kick-Off Meeting is held in August, shortly before the NTHSRA Kick-Off Rodeo, and everyone is welcome! New, existing and prospective members along with their families, as well as sponsors are welcome to attend. Please email us at:   southlakecarrollrodeoteam@gmail.com to obtain the date and location of this year’s kick-off meeting. During this meeting you can learn all about team events, meet existing members, learn how to join (and sign-up on-site), as well as details of the NTHSRA rodeo season ahead, or ask any questions you may have. If you are reading this after August, it's still not too late to become a team member -- just email us and we'll help you join today!

When is rodeo season?

The NTHSRA rodeo season runs over a nine-month period, commencing with a Kick-Off Rodeo at the end of August, and culminating in the Finals Rodeo in May. It is here where the top point earners in each rodeo event – from nearly sixty high school rodeo teams – compete over several days for prizes, cash, awards, coveted titles, and scholarships!

Why join our rodeo team?

Rodeo has been a Texan tradition for years and is an important part of our state’s heritage. The Sport of Rodeo was even designated 'the official sport of Texas' in 1997. And the Southlake Carroll Rodeo Team was created to allow high-school students to pursue their passion for rodeo in an engaging and supportive environment. Competing in rodeos not only develops physical strength, tenacity, self-discipline and mental grit, competitors may also earn cash payouts, awards and scholarships! Members also earn leadership skills and bolster college resumes by taking on one of the Team’s many officer positions. But most importantly, being part of our team means sharing and fostering a love for the sport of rodeo while having fun and making friends. When you get involved with The Southlake Carroll Rodeo Team, whether as a team member, a sponsor or a fan, you are supporting hard-working, dedicated and passionate students, as well as deep-rooted Texan traditions, family values, and our incredible Dragon community!
